Jill Biden Kissing Kamala Harris’ Husband in Viral Clip Leaves Internet Puzzle
On Feb. 7, U.S. President Joe Biden‘s State of the Union address took place, and there were many notable guests, but everyone couldn’t stop talking about what happened between first lady Dr. Jill Biden and Kamala Harris‘ husband, second gentleman Doug Emhoff.
Viewers of the State of Union speech, delivered by President Joe Biden in the US yesterday, were stunned upon seeing the blink-and-you’ll-miss-it exchange between his wife, Jill, and Kamala Harris’ husband, Doug Emhoff.
The two spouses shocked viewers as Emhoff took the First Lady’s hand in greeting before they quickly planted a kiss on each other’s lips, after which Jill swiftly moved on to shake hands with others.
Social media erupted in confusion at the exchange.
“Did Jill Biden just kiss Kamala’s husband on the LIPS?!” wrote on Twitter user.
“Is this an American thing or am I missing something?” asked another.
But one expert claims that the kiss isn’t what it seems. The US Sun spoke with Tina B. Tessina, Ph.D, aka “Dr. Romance”, a licensed psychotherapist and author of Money, Sex and Kids: Stop Fighting about the Three Things That Can Ruin Your Relationship, to get some much needed context between the unexpected kiss.
Dr Romance insists that the kiss was simply a friendly, familial greeting between friends who work closely together.
“I think the First Lady and Second Gentleman are probably close friends since they work together a lot and share similar ‘second banana’ duties,” she explained.
But she does admit, “I’m surprised they kissed on the lips in public because you would think they’d know the press would have a field day.”
Tessina, who has 45 years experience in her field, says she doubts the kiss between the First Lady and Second Gentleman “means anything sensational”.
“If they were hiding a clandestine relationship, this would not be the way to do it,” she said.
“I think this is a familial greeting between close friends who feel like family members to each other.”
Emhoff and Harris have been married since 2014, whereas Joe and Jill Biden have been married since 1977 and have raised three children together. source
